Step by step with Shotivo
How to search for text inside your screenshots
You do not need to remember a screenshot’s filename. A place, product name or a few words from the image may be enough to find it with Shotivo’s text search.
Make the screenshots accessible
Check that Shotivo can access the screenshots you want to search. With Limited Photos access, only the items you select can be included.
Let text recognition finish
The scan recognizes writing in accessible screenshots on your iPhone and adds it to a local search index. Items that have not been processed may not appear in results yet.
Enter a distinctive word in Search
For example, create a harmless sample note headed “camping checklist”, take a screenshot and search for “camping”. Start with a short, distinctive word if a longer query finds nothing.
Open the result and check the original
Open a matching screenshot. Text recognition can make mistakes; verify important amounts, dates and contact details against the image itself.
Why a result might be missing
Photo permissions, an unfinished scan, iCloud-only content not available on the device and hard-to-read writing can affect results. Loading one preview from iCloud does not mean the whole library has been indexed again.
Free and Pro search coverage
Free text indexing covers the first 300 screenshots. Reaching that limit does not hide results already indexed. Pro enables unlimited text indexing; photo permissions, iCloud availability and recognition limitations still apply.
Where screenshot content is processed
Text recognition runs on your device. Shotivo does not upload screenshots, recognized text or search queries to a Shotivo server or external AI service. Your Apple Photos, iCloud and device-backup settings continue to apply separately.
