Step by step with Shotivo

Why a screenshot is missing from search results

No results does not mean the screenshot has been deleted. Search works on screenshots Shotivo can access and whose text has been successfully indexed.

  1. Try a short, distinctive word

Search for a clearly readable product or place name in the image. Start with one word instead of a long sentence. Switch the filter to All so a date or category filter does not exclude the result.

  2. Check photo access

Limited Photos access includes only the images you select. Ordinary photos and videos are outside Shotivo’s screenshot search.

  3. Check scanning and iCloud availability

Wait for the initial scan to complete. Text from an iCloud-only image may not have been processed on your device. Preview availability and text indexing are separate states.

  4. Check the free indexing coverage

Free text indexing covers the first 300 screenshots. Pro removes that limit but does not automatically solve denied access, missing iCloud downloads or unreadable writing. Check those causes before buying.

Recognition has limitations

Very small, angled, low-contrast or handwritten text may not be read correctly. Check important amounts and dates against the original image even when search returns a match.

Test with a non-personal example

Write “camping checklist” in your own note and take a screenshot. After granting Shotivo access and letting scanning finish, search for “camping”. You do not need to upload the example to support.
